Do you have weeds growing out of control in an area that you just can’t get to. Is there a restricted access that makes using machinery prohibitively expensive, or man power intensive, maybe your looking for a way to get rid of those weeds that doesn’t use nasty chemicals, or noisy and polluting machinery.
Let the goats from Dakota Goat Squad help.
Why goats?
-
Goats are generally quieter that machines
-
Goats don’t use harsh chemicals
-
The Goat’s digestive tract make most seeds inert
-
Goats will get into places that are hard to get to.
-
They will fertilize very evenly.
-
Goats are fun to watch
How does this work?
One of the human partners will come out and evaluate the area you want cleared.
Of course we are looking out for the safety of the goats. We like to have the area with a 4’ fence. We understand that this isn’t always practical.
We have temporary electrical fencing, that we can set up to keep the goats where they need to be, and keep help keep predators out.
If we need to set up a temporary fence We might need to mow around the perimeter. If we need to, we will also set up a safety fence to keep people away from the electric fence.
We will set-up the essentials for goats, A simple shelter, water and minerals.
Then we introduce the goats, and they will get right to work.
A human partner will come out once a day,
-
Bring fresh water
-
Check the condition of equipment (fences, shelter, etc.)
-
Check the goats’ health and progress
when they are done, we will round up all the goats and load them into the trailer.
Take down and pick up the temporary fencing. Pick up any additional equipment.
Confirm the goats did their job.
How much does it cost?
Each situation is different, and is priced accordingly, here is a base line:
Four to six goats for 2 days 400.00
Each additional day 150.00
The temporary electric fence 25.00/day
for one week (7 days) is 1000.00 (fence included)
What area do you cover?
We generally cover about 50 miles out from Hartford, South Dakota
Check with your city to see if they will allow goats.
If you need to apply for a permit, we are happy to address your City Council and explain the process to them.
